Govan Home and Education Link Project (formerly Hill's Trust Home School Community Project) was established in 1996 by a group of parents and teaching staff from Hill’s Trust Primary School who wanted to promote parental involvement in education, and improve play facilities for children within the area.
The group helped raise £500,000 funding from The Big Lottery to turn a derelict site into a new arts centre for the community, and also successfully secured Urban Aid funding to employ staff for the newly formed Hill’s Trust Home School Community Project.
The Project became a registered charity and limited company in 1997 and 2003 respectively.
Over the years the Project has evolved and developed into a family education project in order to meet the changing demographics and needs of the local Govan community.
Until June 2010 the Project was based in Hill’s Trust Primary, but moved to Govan Road Campus in August 2010, when Hill’s Trust Primary amalgamated with Copeland Primary to become Riverside Primary.
An EGM was held in June 2010 to change our name to Govan Home and Education Link Project. We now share Govan Road Campus with Broomloan Nursery, Riverside Primary and St Saviours Primary.
In 2015, and thanks to Big Lottery funding, Govan HELP went through a significant expansion, doubling its staff team to 8 and developing many new services. We also took on an additional "satelitte" office at Harmony Row Workspace.
2016 was one of our most exciting years yet as it was Govan HELP's 20th Anniversary. We had a programme of celebratory events to celebrate this milestone.
