Aileen MacLeod


Senior Play Therapist

Aileen is passionate about children and young people’s rights and enjoys seeing their voices effectively represented. Greta Thunberg is her inspiration!

After studying at the University of Stirling, Aileen began her career in youth and community work, gaining her postgraduate qualification from Jordanhill College of Education.

Aileen has previously been involved with Women’s Aid and worked as a Children and Young People’s Worker in Glasgow for 20 years. Inspired by the resilience of families in difficult circumstances, Aileen became interested in what helps children recover from emotional trauma. She completed a 3 year Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy at the University of Strathclyde. Following her graduation in 2006, she worked for 10 years as a Play Therapist at the Notre Dame Centre in Glasgow. In 2016, Aileen came to work for Govan HELP, providing therapeutic support within an education setting.
