Our Story

For over 27 years, families have been at the heart of what we do.

We were established in 1996 as Hill’s Trust Home School Community Project, providing essential support to families in the local area. As our mandate grew in line with the needs of local families, we rebranded as Govan HELP. Currently based at The Pearce Institute, we continue to offer our services in schools, and have recently expanded our service range to include The Govan Pantry, arising from the squeeze many families have felt during the coronavirus pandemic.

Going forward, we believe that early intervention is key to building a strong and prosperous community. Govan is a historically very deprived area (SIMD level 1-2) with all the social issues that accompany deprivation. By being there for families in times of need, our integrated approach tackles social issues before they are able to snowball.

Our story would not be possible without our team of brave and bold staff and volunteers, who work hard to create an inclusive, caring environment for our service users. We also couldn’t do without our trusted partners and supporters, dedicated to fostering positive change.

Most of all, we’d like to thank our families, parents and children for making our work a joy.
