HRH The Duke of Rothesay visits Govan HELP
HRH The Duke of Rothesay visited Govan HELP yesterday!
His Royal Highness met with representatives of Govan HELP, its service users and other members of the local community.
The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund is a key donor to The Govan Pantry, a vital service for the community provided by Govan HELP. Having evolved from a food bank, the Pantry has distributed over £260,000 of food, equating to just under 174,000 meal portions and saving nearly 40,000 cubic meters of CO2 by diverting food from landfill in the time it has been operating.
Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, also unveiled a plaque officially opening the Pantry and commemorating the charity’s 25th anniversary.
Stephen McFadden, Development Lead at Govan HELP, said: “It has been wonderful for us to meet Prince Charles in person and thank him for the contribution The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund has made to help the Pantry continue serving the local community.”
During the visit, His Royal Highness also heard from staff and service users of Govan HELP’s other services, including the Children’s Befriending Service, Children’s Therapeutic Services, Community Interpreters, Family Support and the Training and Volunteering programme.
The visit also coincides with the launch of a new brand for Govan HELP, created by local design agency The Marketing Department. Stephen added: “The timing couldn’t have been better. We invested to improve our image and communications so that we could better communicate the positive impact we’re having in Govan, and Prince Charles’ visit has also really drawn attention to that.”
