SURF Awards 2023 - We’re nominated!

We’re elated to announce that The Govan Pantry has been shortlisted for the 2023 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration!

SURF is Scotland’s Regeneration Forum, and these awards celebrate best practice examples of community regeneration projects. We’re thrilled to be one of just three organisations shortlisted for this award.

The winner is to be announced on 7th December – fingers crossed for us! 🤞

A parliamentary motion recognising our nomination was also submitted by Paul Sweeney MSP on October 3rd. Paul’s motion remarked:

“That the Parliament congratulates Govan HELP – The Govan Pantry on being shortlisted in the Community Led Regeneration category of the prestigious 2023 SURF Awards for Best Practice in Community Regeneration; recognises that this award identifies and celebrates best practice, innovation and achievement in interventions that improve Scottish communities; acknowledges that The Govan Pantry started as a foodbank in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and has now evolved into a community subsidised shop that offers its 2,834 members from the local community the chance to purchase up to 10 items of food and hygiene products for a weekly membership fee of £3; understands that SURF, Scotland’s Regeneration Forum, is a charity and a membership body of more than 300 organisations, which runs an annual awards scheme to recognise impact and achievement in community regeneration across the country, and wishes Govan HELP – The Govan Pantry good luck when the winners are revealed on 7 December 2023.”
