Family Support

Govan HELP supports families who have children and live within the Govan area of Glasgow.  Being a parent or a carer is a difficult job and unexpected challenges can occur to anyone at any time. At Govan HELP we will work alongside you, using your existing strengths and experience as a parent to help you find a way to overcome the challenges you are facing and build resilience to face future challenges.

You will be allocated your own worker to speak to so you don’t have to tell us the same information repeatedly, and so you can get to know one another. We will meet you regularly to set goals and review your achievements, supporting you where you might need some extra help. Where possible we will try to help you find local help and if you want to we can help you find groups and communities of like minded people for you and your child(ren).

What kind of things do we help people with:

  • Family routines

  • Support to build and maintain family relationships

  • Parenting support

  • Groups to meet other parents and get information

  • Budgeting & money management

  • Ideas for play

  • Emotional support/Isolation

  • Finding specialist supports e.g. debt management, legal advice

Groups and Drop-in Sessions

We run a number of regular group and drop-in sessions, broadly aimed at supporting families to better connect and communicate, as well as overcome specific challenges. Information about our Money Advice Service, Govan Tots, Family Learning and our other regular sessions can be found on our Groups and Drop-in Sessions page.

If you would like to have a chat about any of the above, please contact Katie by phone or email. Alternatively, you can fill in the form by clicking ‘contact us’ below. If you don’t want to contact the service yourself, you can ask a health visitor, nursery teacher or someone else you trust to make the call on your behalf.
